Sadly one of our own has gone to the City of Dust. He shall be greatly missed.
Three passions have governed my life:
The longings for love, the search for knowledge,
And unbearable pity for the suffering of [humankind].
Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness.
In the union of love I have seen
In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision
Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined.
With equal passion I have sought knowledge.
I have wished to understand the hearts of [people].
I have wished to know why the stars shine.
Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens,
But always pity brought me back to earth;
Cries of pain reverberated in my heart
Of children in famine, of victims tortured
And of old people left helpless.
I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot,
And I too suffer.
This has been my life; I found it worth living.
This is our caste newsletter and a resource guide as well as a place for fun, news, polls, commentary and anything that you, the scribes of Gor, wish to see and read about. Please contribute ideas or perhaps volunteer to write a column on your area of expertise. If you have knowledge of the law, we would love a column that you can enlighten both caste and the general role play population, thus making AOL Gor a better place.
Gauge T Lockhart has passed to the City of Dust.
"The welfare of the caste, typically, takes priority in the Gorean mind over the ambitions of specific individuals."
Nothing seems to prepare us for the loss of a friend, mentor, or fellow caste member. I wish to express my sadness at the loss of a great man and fellow scribe. Perhaps here we can share our sympathy and well wishes for a beloved brother and friend.
